It's all about SPACE
Spaces, help us read!
Spaces tell us where one word ends and the next begins. When we are making 1-1 matches in reading the space tells us
how far to glide our finger. In writing, spacing helps our reader understand what we have written. If we do not leave spaces
between our words our story might look like this:
Thedogandcatwererunningaftertheball
and with temporary spelling it might even look like this
Thedgnctwrrngaftrthebl
It is very difficult to read this and get the child's meaning from it.
If we leave spaces we then have a much better chance of decoding the temporary spelling and can easily read the book spelling.
The dog and cat were running after the ball.

Spaces are important!!
They help us to read and to write!
