Superintendent Communication - May 2023

May 25, 2023

Carman-Ainsworth Staff and Families,

The month of May has been a busy time in Carman-Ainsworth Schools, with our students, staff and parents actively engaged in activities and events to wrap up a strong 2022-2023 school year.

Upcoming Events

The Honors Ceremony will be Tuesday, May 30; Seniors with a 3.0 cumulative GPA will be honored as well as scholarship recipients. Also, we will be recognizing our 2023 Graduates at Commencement on Thursday, June 1. Both activities show our pride for the Class of 2023, and we are excited as we look forward to what our seniors will bring to the future.

Look for information on upcoming end of the year events in each of our buildings as they celebrate our students. I would like to thank everyone who took part in organizing, managing, and coordinating the events to ensure a successful end to the year.

End of the Year Schedule

High School and Middle Students will have half days on June 5, 6, and 7 for exams. Elementary students will have half days on June 6 and 7. The last day of school will be June 7.

Memorial Day

Due to the Memorial Day Holiday, there will be a half-day on Friday, May 26 and no school on Monday, May 29.

Summer Activities/Learning

We are offering many great athletic camps through Community Education this summer. Also, Camp Adventure registration is open to students ages 5-12. Additional information regarding both programs can be found on the district website www.carman.k12.mi.us. Information regarding Summer Learning opportunities has been shared by individual buildings; if you have questions, please contact your student’s school.

Summer Facility Projects

Painting projects at Dye Elementary and Randels Elementary will make it necessary to relocate elementary Summer Learning as follows: Dillon Elementary will host Kindergarten – 3rd grades and 4th – 5th grades will be hosted at Carman-Ainsworth Middle School in a separate wing.

2023-2024 Calendar

All buildings in the Carman-Ainsworth Community School District will be closed July 3 – July 7, 2023.

We are excited to share that the first day of school for the 2023-2024 school year is Monday, August 28.

The opening week of the year will extend Monday through Thursday of that week, followed by Labor Day weekend: Friday, September 1 through Labor Day Monday. We return to begin week two of the school year on Tuesday, September 5.

Our calendar teams continue their diligent work on the full details of the 2023-24 calendar, and we will share that information as soon as it is finalized.

Make each day count Cavaliers...the end of another school year will soon be here!
