Welcome to the 2018-19 school year!!! I hope you and your family enjoyed another wonderful Michigan summer. I will be your students Geometry or Algebra II teacher. This will be my fifteenth year teaching at Carman-Ainsworth High School and I am just as excited to be part of your child’s education as I was fourteen years ago.
One of my main philosophies in the classroom is the golden rule; treat others the way you would like to be treated. I do not allow any negative language in the classroom. I encourage the students to focus on what they can do, not what they can’t do. I want them to learn to say “I don’t know how to do blank yet.” I also believe in building listening skills using the “say it once” approach. Students need to be active listeners and when we consistently repeat directions; it allows them to not have to listen. It is my personal goal that every single one of my students will meet or exceed this year’s expectations. Every student is at a different level, so our goal is to help every student achieve a year’s worth of growth. My hope is that I will not only provide your child with an exceptional math education but also get to know your child on a more personal basis and become someone they respect and trust.
I communicate with the students quite frequently through, “Remind.” Please ask your student if they signed up and if you would like to also receive the messages they can share that information with you.
The following is my classroom management plan: I will promise to protect all students’ right to learn and enjoy school without interference.
1. Enter our classroom quietly and get prepared to work hard.
2. When appropriate, raise your hand, do not blurt out.
3. Cell phones should not be used during instruction for personal use.4. Be respectful and help create a safe learning environment for ALL learners.
5. Enjoy your learning experience!
In addition, you must follow all rules in the CA Student Handbook.
1st time a rule is broken: Warning
2nd time a rule is broken: Removal from the learning environment
3rd time a rule is broken: Call home and\or referral to the principal
