I have been a teacher at Carman-Ainsworth High School since 2003. I became a teacher so I could have a positive impact on the lives of my students.
Currently I am finishing my master’s degree in school principalship from Central Michigan University. I received my teaching degree and a major in Social Studies from Madonna University. Before becoming a teacher I was a journalist and worked at several newspapers in Michigan as an editor and reporter including my favorite position as Nation/World Editor at The Oakland Press in Pontiac for nearly 10 years. I received my bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University and graduated with a major in Journalism and minor in Political Science. I grew up in Harbor Beach, in Michigan’s Thumb region, and graduated from Harbor Beach Community High School.
My wife, Judy, also a CMU graduate, and I are celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary this year. We enjoy traveling, reading novels and non-fiction books, watching all kinds of movies, downhill snow skiing, hiking, cheering on the CMU Chippewas, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Red Wings, reading the Sunday New York Times, and entertaining our families and friends. We also spoil Baxter, our 8-year-old dog, who is a cocker spaniel-poodle mix. I have an older brother and younger sister and my wife has three sisters and two brothers. We spend quite a bit of our time with our 15 nieces and nephews.
